Where were you during the summer of 1992? For me, I was in space serving as a payload specialist aboard the Columbia Space Shuttle. Following the space expedition, I spent time as the chief scientist at the International Space Station and later came to work as a professor at UAB. However, I’m not here to brag about myself. I’m here to brag on the doctors at Andrews Sports Medicine.
I first visited Andrews Sports Medicine in June of 2018 and saw Dr. Jody Ortega regarding some knee pain I had been experiencing for a while. My biggest passion is bowling and it had gotten to the point where I was in too much pain to bowl. I had been thinking about surgery and then Dr. Ortega referred me to see Dr. K. David Moore, who I saw a few weeks later in early July.
During a thorough discussion with Dr. Moore, he shared both the risks and benefits of knee replacement surgery and I decided on the spot it was time for a total knee replacement.
I had my surgery on September 10, 2018. I feel so much better! At my 6-week post-op appointment, Dr. Moore cleared me to start trying to bowl again. Since I was so motivated to get back to the lanes, I was ahead of schedule regarding my physical therapy.
I want to personally thank Dr. Moore for making me so incredibly comfortable throughout the whole process as well as the nurses and support staff that were very nice and helped everything go so smoothly.
I am very impressed with how my experience was at Andrews Sports Medicine and I can’t thank them enough for helping me get back to my passion!
