Conditions + Treatments
My name is Alan Cosby and I’ve officiated basketball at the high school and collegiate levels for 31 years.
About 2 years ago, I began to have a lot of pain and discomfort in my left foot. The sharp pain was very prevalent when I got out of bed in the morning and when I would stand up after prolonged sitting.
In an effort to alleviate the pain, I did stretching and medication; however, I reached the point that I decided that I needed to see a doctor.
I went to a physician and was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. For about a year we tried to treat my foot through injections and physical therapy. I had some short-term relief, but nothing really helped the pain consistently.
I started researching “plantar fasciitis treatment” online and discovered a video of Andrews Sports Medicine’s Dr. Ricardo Colberg discussing the Topaz Microdebrider procedure. In the video Dr. Colberg went into great detail about the procedure and how his patients with moderate-to-severe plantar fasciitis were experiencing long-term relief.
At that point, I made the decision to make an appointment with Dr. Colberg. During my appointment, Dr. Colberg confirmed I had plantar fasciitis. We discussed my various, unsuccessful treatments and he said I was a prime candidate for the Topaz Microdebrider
procedure.
Dr. Colberg explained that the procedure would remove the inflammation from the plantar fascia which would ultimately give me relief from the pain.
After having the procedure a few weeks later, I thought to myself that I regretted it because of the pain and the boot I had to wear. However, after wearing the boot and going through physical therapy I’m glad I went through with it because now I’m pain free and can do my normal activities.
I highly recommend this treatment and Dr. Colberg if nothing else has worked for you.
