Knee Replacement (Total)
After working for 35 years standing on my feet, I decided to either quit work and sit in front of the television for the rest of my life, or be proactive so I didn't miss out on my grandchildren. That wasn't an option!
In 2001, I went to Andrews Sports Medicine and saw a young doctor named Dugas. I even quizzed him if he’d ever done a knee replacement, because I didn't want him learning on me! He assured me he had.
Then I was afraid I would hurt and he assured me he would not let me hurt. I also had my will done because I knew I was going to die. Well…that has been 15 years ago.
Since then, I have had my other knee replaced. The second time around was much easier because I knew what the process was going to be like.
The worst part of the whole thing was the therapy. You have to grit your teeth and just DO IT!
At the time of my replacements, they were not supposed to last this long, however, I wish the rest of my bones felt as good as my knees.
