Birmingham - Outpatient CareCenter

The Outpatient CareCenter is a third-party ambulatory surgery center (ASC) utilized by Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialist, Charles T. Carnel, MD. 

The surgery center, located at 2720 University Boulevard, is easily accessible from Red Mountain Expressway and is directly across the street from our main office, Andrews Sports Medicine - Birmingham on the Ascension St. Vincent's Birmingham campus.  

This provides Dr. Carnel's patients' the convenience of having their office appointments and surgical procedures both taking place in the same general area of the city.

Dr. Carnel performs a variety of surgical procedures at The Outpatient CareCenter, including:

• Kyphoplasty
• Spinal cord stimulator

For certain procedures, your orthopaedic surgeon may operate at our affiliated surgical location — Outpatient CareCenter. This dedicated facility is an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), providing high-quality outpatient procedures that don’t necessarily need to be performed in a full hospital. This may mean a shorter admission procedure and quicker release once you’re ready to go home, giving you a more convenient, overall experience.
