Christopher H. Garrett, MD is the newest member of our Andrews Sports Medicine team of doctors.

Dr. Garrett is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, hip preservation and arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee.

A recent graduate of the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Garrett obtained his fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine. During his one-year fellowship, Dr. Garrett received extensive clinical and surgical training and mentorship from Dr. Lyle Cain, Dr. Jeffrey Dugas and Dr. Benton Emblom.

Dr. Garrett treats patients of all ages and activity levels at our Birmingham and Hoover - Hwy. 150 clinic locations. In addition, Dr. Garrett serves as a team physician for Spain Park High School and the University of Alabama.

Dr. Garrett is deeply committed to staying updated with the latest advancements in sports medicine and maintains an active involvement in professional organizations. By continuously expanding his knowledge and skills, Dr. Garrett ensures that his patients receive the most effective and evidence-based treatments available.

A native of Key West, Florida, Dr. Garrett graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science. He obtained his medical degree at Florida State University College of Medicine, followed by an orthopaedic surgery residency at Orlando Health.

During his medical training, Dr. Garrett held many leadership positions and received many honors for his achievements. He received the 2018 Francisco Herrero Award for most outstanding surgeon in medical school, Orthopedic Resident of the Year during his orthopaedic surgical residency, and second place for Florida Orthopaedic Society Resident Research Competition. He also served as a reviewer for the Journal of Orthopeadic Surgery and Research.

Dr. Garrett and his wife, Kendall, are excited to be in Birmingham long term. In their free time, they enjoy traveling to new destinations.
